Atul Machinery Stores is tucked away on Station Road in Raipur. Being right behind the Gurudwara means we hear the prayers and the morning sounds while we are opening up the shutters. The location near Hotel Grand International makes it easy for people to find us, though the road gets very crowded with rickshaws and carts. We carry a lot of different parts and machines, and the shop is usually a bit of a mess with boxes and metal bits everywhere. It’s hard to keep things perfectly tidy when you are digging through bins for a specific bolt or a motor part. We have been in this part of Raipur for a long time, and we know the regulars who come in with grease on their hands needing a quick fix for their equipment. Our staff isn't dressed in suits; we wear clothes that can handle a bit of oil. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit in the dark for a bit, but that’s just how it is here. We don't have a big corporate philosophy or anything like that. We just know which machine needs which part and we try to keep it in stock. It’s a busy life on Station Road, with the trains nearby and the constant hum of the city. We just show up, drink our chai, and help the next person who walks through the door.
