India Steel

Down at the Zenith Compound in Raigad, we go by the name India Steel. It’s an industrial sort of place, not much to look at but it is where the real work gets done. The Ssd section of the compound is where you’ll find our stacks of material and the small cabin we use as an office. Raigad can get pretty humid during the summer, and when you are surrounded by metal all day, you definitely feel the heat. We spend a lot of time out on the floor, checking the inventory and making sure everything is loaded onto the trucks correctly. It’s a lot of manual work, and we are often covered in a bit of grit and dust by the end of our shift. The compound is shared with a few other businesses, so there is always a forklift moving somewhere or a big truck backing up. We don’t have fancy brochures or a front desk with a receptionist waiting to greet people. If you come by, you’ll probably find us wearing work clothes and looking at a clipboard or a ledger. The machinery makes a steady hum in the background that you eventually stop noticing after an hour or two. We just focus on the steel. Some days are slower than others, especially when the weather is bad, but usually, there is a long list of things to move. It’s a straightforward life here at Zenith Compound and we just get on with it.
