Bhushan Steel Limited

Down here in Khopoli, Navi Mumbai, the Bhushan Steel Limited site is always buzzing with activity. It’s a humid place, especially being so close to the coast, and the air always feels a bit heavy. We have a lot of steel moving through here every single day. The sounds of the trucks and the cranes are constant, so you have to talk a bit louder to be heard. It’s not a place for someone who likes quiet or air-conditioned offices. Most of us are out on the floor or in the yard, making sure the loads are secured and everything is in order. We’ve got a good group of workers here who have been with us for years. We don't have any polished speeches about what we do. We just work with steel. The rain during the monsoon season can be really something else, sometimes we have to stop work for a bit just because you can't see anything. We eat our lunch together in a small breakroom that could probably use a new coat of paint. It’s an honest day’s work, even if we go home with greasy hands and tired backs. Dealing with the traffic in Navi Mumbai is probably the hardest part of the job. But we’ve got a system that works for us. We just keep moving forward, handling one order at a time without much fuss.
