Arv Cement Society

If you drive down the Hyderabad Road towards Shaktinagar, you will find us at number 69. Arv Cement Society is a bit of a local landmark for people in this neighborhood. We are not a regular shop owned by just one person. It’s more of a collective effort where several people have a say in how things are run. This can make decisions a bit slow sometimes, but it usually works out in the end. The building is a simple one-story structure with a big porch where we keep the current stock. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with suppliers and making sure we don't run out of anything. Shaktinagar is a busy area, so there are always people walking by or popping their heads in to ask a quick question. We keep a ledger on the main desk that everyone uses, so it’s full of different handwriting. Sometimes it’s hard to read, but we manage to keep the accounts straight. We don't have any air conditioning, so the summer months can be a bit of a struggle, but we just open all the windows and hope for a breeze. It’s a grounded way to run a business. We aren't trying to impress anyone with shiny signs or expensive furniture. We just want to make sure the members get what they need and that the society stays afloat.
