Gaurav Brick Field

Down in Village Ochi, you will find us at Gaurav Brick Field. We are based out of Post Amrit Nagar in the Tehsil Maharajganj area. It is a quiet part of the district most of the time, except when the season is right for making bricks. Then, the whole place starts moving. We have been here for a good bit of time now. The land around the village is where we spend most of our daylight hours. It is dirty work, and your hands never really stay clean for long, but we don't mind it. People from the surrounding areas know where to find us. We don't have a big office or anything like that. We just have the field and the stacks of red bricks waiting to be moved. Sometimes the roads get a bit muddy after a heavy storm, and that makes getting the trucks out a real challenge. We just do what we can with what we have. Most of the guys here live close by, so we are all neighbors in a way. We see each other at the local market and then we see each other at the field. It’s a steady life. We don't talk much about goals or anything, we just focus on making sure the bricks are fired right and that we have enough for whoever comes by next week. The days are long and the work is physical, but it’s what we know.
