Chawla Brick Field

Chawla Brick Field is set up along Canal Road in Prakash Nagar. We are right near the Indira Nagar Awas Vikas Colony, which means we see a lot of construction going on in the neighborhood. Our days start very early, often before the sun is fully up, so we can get a head start on the kilns. Making bricks is a slow and repetitive process, but we have a rhythm down after all these years. The canal provides a bit of a breeze sometimes, but mostly it is just hot and dusty work. We have a lot of space here to lay out the raw bricks to dry in the sun before they go into the fire. It’s a bit of a mess during the monsoon season when we have to scramble to keep everything dry under plastic sheets. We don’t have a big corporate office or a sales team. It’s usually just one of us sitting at a small wooden desk near the entrance to talk to customers. Most of the people who buy from us are neighbors or local builders who have been coming here for a long time. We don’t make any big promises, we just try to have enough bricks ready when someone shows up with a trailer. It’s honest work that keeps us busy throughout the year, and we like being part of the Prakash Nagar community.
