Down here in Amalapada, our school sits right where everyone in Nimapara can find it. It's a standard high school building in this part of Puri. We have the usual classrooms and a hall where everyone gathers. The floors are stone and they stay cool when the sun is beating down outside. Students come from all over the local area, some walking and some on cycles. We keep things pretty straightforward with the lessons. There is a small playground in the back that gets a lot of use during the afternoon break. You can hear the shouting from the street when games are going on. We have a few trees that give decent shade near the entrance. The office is right at the front, usually with a stack of papers on the desk. It’s a busy place but we know most of the families by name. Nothing here is overly polished, just a functional space for learning. We have the state board books and some extra reading materials in the corner. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just open the windows wider. It’s part of living in Nimapara. The staff rooms are small and usually smell like tea around midday. We just try to keep things moving along for the kids day after day. Most parents seem to appreciate the routine and the familiar faces at the gate. It's just a normal school.
