Gossner High School

Out here at Plot No 261 in Atala Panchamukhi Vihar, things are a bit quieter than in the center of Bhubaneshwar. We are Gossner High School, and we serve the families around Jagannathpur. The area is still developing, so there are some empty plots and trees around the school building. It makes for a nice atmosphere for the students, though it can get a bit lonely out here when the sun goes down. Our building is a solid concrete structure with several floors. The stairs are narrow, and you have to be careful when the students are all trying to go down at once for the lunch break. We spend a lot of time preparing the older kids for their board exams because that’s what the parents expect from us. We don't have a huge staff, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, like fixing a broken chair or helping out in the office. It’s a very hands-on way of running a school. The playground is just a patch of ground where we set up some nets for sports, but the kids seem to enjoy it anyway. We don't have much in the way of expensive gadgets, we just rely on good old-fashioned teaching and lots of practice. Most of our students have been with us since they were small, so we’ve seen them grow up quite a bit. It’s a steady, calm kind of life here.
