Chandika Engineering

Up here in Panuria, things move at their own pace. Chandika Engineering is located right in the village, and we’ve been part of the landscape for quite a while. Our mail goes through the Gourandi post office, but most people just know us as the shop near the Barabani station area. It’s a bit of a drive out into Burdwan district to get to us. The workshop is always humming with the sound of tools. We aren’t the type to wear suits or sit behind big glass windows. Usually, we’re covered in a bit of grease and focused on whatever machine needs fixing that day. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy place where the work gets done. Sometimes the power flickers, or the road gets blocked by a tractor, but we just keep going. It’s an honest way to make a living. We have a few guys from the village who work here, and we all know the routine. You won’t find any corporate slogans on our walls. We just have our benches and our equipment. People from all over the district come by when they have something that’s stopped working. We take a look, see what can be done, and get to it. It’s just how things are handled in a place like Panuria. There is always something to weld or grind or bolt back together before the sun goes down.
