Our shop is number 3 in the Balkrishna Centre, right near the Adarsh Hotel in the Warje Malwadi area. It’s a small place, but it’s easy to find if you know where the hotel is. We’ve been here for a while, just handling local property deals and helping people find rentals. The office is usually a bit cluttered with newspapers and old files, but we know where everything is kept. We don’t have any fancy posters or corporate mission statements on the walls. It’s mostly just us and a couple of ceiling fans that make a bit of a clicking noise when they are on full speed. People from the neighborhood stop in quite a bit, sometimes just to say hello or ask about the rent on a nearby flat. We spend the morning catching up on calls and the afternoon out and about, looking at different sites in Chembur and nearby. The area gets quite lively in the evenings, so we usually stay open a bit later to catch people after they finish work. We just try to give honest advice about what a place is worth or why a certain building might be better than another. It’s a simple business, really. We don’t use any big words or complicated contracts. If someone needs a place to stay or wants to sell their shop, they come to us, and we see what we can do to help them out. It’s just a regular day-to-day operation here in our little shop.
