Savvy Architects

Our office for Savvy Architects is tucked away in Wakdewadi. We are at 104/B Laxmi Narayan Kunj on Mula Road. It’s a decent spot in Pune, though the traffic on Mula Road can get pretty backed up during the rush hours. When you walk in, the first thing you see are the big tables we use for sketching. There are rolls of tracing paper everywhere and plenty of half-empty coffee cups. We spend a lot of time looking at site plans and trying to figure out how to make spaces work better. It is a creative space, but it’s also quite messy most of the time. We aren't the type of firm that has a sleek, glass-walled lobby. It’s more of a working studio where we actually get our hands dirty with models and drawings. We have a few computers for the digital side of things, but a lot of our thinking still happens with a pencil in hand. The light comes in nicely through the windows in the afternoon, which helps when we are trying to pick out materials or colors. Being in Pune, we see a lot of changes happening in the city's skyline, and we are just happy to be part of that process from our corner in Wakdewadi. It’s a small team here, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from talking to contractors to fixing the printer when it jams.
