Kasba Peth is one of the oldest parts of the city. Our office is at number 47. It is a small room where we talk about houses and land. In this neighborhood, everyone knows everyone, so news about a property for sale travels fast. We don't do big advertisements. Mostly, people just walk in because they heard we know who is moving out or who has a shop for rent. The streets here are narrow and it can get very hot in the afternoons. We have a couple of chairs and a fan that makes a bit of noise. Dealing with real estate here is different than in the new parts of town. There are old family issues to settle and old papers to look through. It takes patience. We spend a lot of time walking around the Peth to look at sites or meet with owners. Sometimes a deal takes months just because people want to talk and drink tea before deciding anything. We aren't trying to be the biggest agency. We just want to help the locals find a decent place to live or a spot for their small business. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when there is a festival in the Peth. Then everything stops. We’ve been at this spot for a long time and the walls are covered with old maps of the area. It feels like home to us now. We have some coffee and wait for neighbors.
