Roopali Nerilkar

I work out of the Kelkar Nursing Home, which sits right on the 1st Lane Corner in Erandwane. The building is called Shivalaya Swami and it’s in the Vivekanand Nagar area of 411004. It’s a familiar spot for many people in Pune. The nursing home itself has been around for a bit, and my space is just one part of the whole setup. Being on a corner makes it easy to find, though parking around Erandwane is always a bit of a headache for everyone. The atmosphere inside is pretty quiet compared to the street outside. I spend most of my day in the consultation room. It’s a simple space with the basic things I need to do my job. There’s no fancy lobby or anything like that, just the standard nursing home waiting area where people sit. You can hear the city sounds through the windows, but it’s mostly just the routine of the medical staff going about their business. I’ve gotten used to the layout of the building over time. It’s a practical place to be based. People from Vivekanand Nagar often walk over because it’s so central. I don't really do any big advertising; people just find their way here through the nursing home or by word of mouth in the neighborhood. It’s a steady way to work. I just focus on the people who come in for their appointments and try to keep things organized in my little corner of the nursing home.
