We’ve been doing woodwork at our shop in Warje for a good number of years. It’s located on the Nagavarapalya Main Road, right in Tapodham Colony. If you walk past 435/6, you’ll probably hear the sawing or smell the wood shavings. It’s a dusty place, mostly because we are always cutting or sanding something down. We make chairs, tables, and cabinets mostly. It started as a small family thing and we just stayed here. The space isn't huge, so sometimes finished pieces are stacked up near the entrance while we wait for people to pick them up. Dealing with wood is hard work, especially in the heat. We don't use any fancy computer programs to design things. We just use tape measures and pencils. Sometimes customers bring in a drawing they made, and we try to get the dimensions right. It doesn't always go perfect on the first try, but we fix it until it works. The traffic on the main road outside is always loud, but you get used to it after a while. We aren't a big factory or anything like that. Just a local workshop where things get built by hand. Most of our tools are old but they still do the job. If someone needs a repair or a new shelf, they just drop by. It is a simple life of sawdust and hammer nails, and we enjoy it.
