We’re over at 23 Aswanth Nagar in Rasta Peth, and the first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is the smell of leather. It’s a heavy, earthy scent that gets into your clothes and stays there, but we’ve grown to like it over the years. The shop is small and filled with scraps of material, old sewing machines, and various jars of glue and polish. We don't have much of a storefront, just a simple door and a window that lets in some light onto the workbench. Most of our time is spent bent over a piece of material, cutting or stitching something by hand. It’s quiet work for the most part, except for the sound of the needle hitting the leather or the occasional tap of a hammer. People from around Rasta Peth bring us their old things to get fixed, and we do what we can with what we have. There are always pieces of thread on the floor and a bit of dust on the shelves, no matter how much we clean. It’s a bit of a cluttered space, but everything has its place, even if it doesn't look like it to a stranger. We don't have any big signs or fancy lights, just a small place where we do our work every day. It’s a slow pace compared to the rest of the city, and that’s how we like it. We focus on the task in front of us.
