The Impex

The Impex is located at 572 Nana Peth. If you know the area, you know it’s one of the older, busier parts of the city. The streets are narrow and always full of people, bikes, and carts. Our building has been here for ages. The walls are thick and the ceilings are high, which helps keep it a bit cooler in the summer heat. We have a small shopfront and then a back area where we do all the administrative work. It’s a bit of a maze with all the shelves and stacked boxes. We mostly deal with local traders and some international stuff too. The noise from the street is constant—horns honking and people shouting—but after a few weeks, you just stop hearing it. We have a small desk for the accountant and a couple of chairs for when visitors drop by. We don't do much in the way of advertising; word of mouth has always worked better for us in Nana Peth. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We often have to help load things ourselves if the regular guys are busy. My hands are usually a bit dusty by the end of the day. We don't have a fancy coffee machine, just a small stove to boil water. It’s a simple, practical way to run a business, and it’s how we’ve always done it. We close up exactly at six because the traffic gets impossible after that.
