Our office is at 627 Narayan Peth, tucked away in Gidc Phase I. We are quite close to Lokhande Talim, which is a big local landmark for everyone around here. Working in Narayan Peth means being in the heart of the old city. The lanes are narrow and full of history. Our building is an older one, so the rooms have high ceilings and those heavy wooden doors that sometimes swell up in the monsoon and get hard to close. Inside, there are stacks of files everywhere. We try to keep them organized, but paper has a way of piling up when you are busy. There is a big ceiling fan that wobbles a little bit but it keeps the air moving. I usually get in early before the streets get too crowded with shoppers and delivery vans. The morning is the best time to get through the difficult work. By the afternoon, the heat starts to seep through the walls. We have a small pantry in the back where we make tea twice a day. It’s a very traditional atmosphere. We don't use much in the way of modern gadgets, just the essentials to get the job done. People come in with their problems and we sit down and go through the documents together. It’s a slow process sometimes, but that’s just how things are done here.
