Down in Budhwar Peth, at Poonam Nagar 693, you’ll find our little shop, Krushna Cards. This area is always crowded, and the smell of paper and ink is pretty much part of the walls here. We spend our days surrounded by stacks of cardstock, sample books, and various printing machines that have been around for quite a while. Some of the equipment makes a lot of noise, but it’s a rhythmic sound we’ve grown to like. We handle everything from small personal requests to larger batches of cards for events. It’s a messy job sometimes, with paper scraps everywhere and ink getting on our clothes, but that’s just part of the trade. We don’t have a big storefront with glowing signs. Most people find us because they live nearby or someone told them about us. The lighting inside isn't great, so we usually have a few extra lamps on the worktables so we can see the fine print. We aren't trying to be the biggest printing house in the city. We’re just happy to keep the machines running and get the orders out on time. The neighborhood is full of energy, and we fit right in with the other small shops on the street. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and double-checking spellings, which can be tiring, but it’s what we know how to do. We just take it one pile of paper at a time until the shutters go down.
