Kerala Stores

Down in Hadapsar at Gulal Wadi, you will find Kerala Stores. We have been in this little corner for quite a while now. The shop is full of things from back home, which means it smells like spices and dried goods most of the time. It’s a narrow space and we have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes it’s hard to find things if you don’t know where to look. We spend our days unpacking boxes and talking to the people who stop by for their daily needs. Gulal Wadi is a busy spot, and there is always something going on outside our door. We have a small stool where we sit when things are slow. The fans hum overhead to keep the air moving. We get a lot of people looking for specific items they can't find elsewhere in Hadapsar. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. We don't mind though. It makes the day go faster when we are busy. We handle the cash and the bags and try to remember everyone's name. It’s not a big corporate store, just a local place where we know the neighbors. The building is a bit old and the paint is peeling in some spots, but it doesn't bother anyone. We just open up and see who comes in. It’s a good way to spend the day in the Wadi. That is the whole story really.
