Interno Moda (India)

Our place, Interno Moda (India), is on I T I Road in Aundh. We call the workspace the Atelier, but it’s really just a functional room where we get things done. Aundh is a nice enough area, but our street gets pretty crowded during the day. We’ve been here for a while, and the neighbors are used to the sounds coming from our windows. Inside, it’s a mix of fabrics, threads, and half-finished pieces sitting on the tables. It’s never as tidy as we want it to be, but that’s because we’re always right in the middle of something. We have a small crew of people who really know their stuff. Most of them have been doing this for years and don't need much instruction. We don’t have a big sign outside or a polished lobby. If you walk in, you’re likely to see someone hunched over a machine or marking out patterns on the floor. We drink a lot of coffee to keep going. The light in the afternoon is good for seeing the details, so that’s when we do the hardest bits of work. We aren't trying to be some massive corporation. We just like making things and staying busy in our little corner of Aundh. It’s a lot of manual labor and sometimes my back hurts by five o'clock. But we show up the next day and do it again. Sometimes the fabric deliveries are late, but we just adjust our plans.
