If you head down towards Katraj and find yourself in Nithyananda Nagar, you’ll probably see Goodluck Motors. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a long time. It’s a busy corner. Most of the time, the shop is crowded with scooters and motorcycles waiting for a tune-up. We do some car work too, but the two-wheelers are what keep the lights on. The name was something my father picked out years ago for luck, and it seems to have stuck. We aren't a big showroom with glass walls. It’s mostly just a concrete floor, a few lifts, and a lot of wrenches. The neighborhood kids often hang around outside while we work. It’s loud, especially when we’re testing an exhaust, but nobody really complains much. We keep a stash of spare parts in the back, though it’s a bit of a maze back there. Sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what we need. We drink a lot of chai during the afternoon slump. People stop by just to chat sometimes, which is fine, as long as we aren't too backed up. We don’t do much advertising; word of mouth in Katraj is usually enough to keep us going. It’s honest work and it’s what we know. We just try to get people back on the road without too much fuss. There is always a lot to do, but we take it one bike at a time.
