Ganesh Water Tanker

We run the tankers out of Katraj Shelar Mala, right off the Katraj Kondhwa Road. It’s a lot of driving back and forth all day long. The trucks take a beating on some of the rougher roads around here, so there’s always a bit of maintenance to do. We spend a lot of time checking tires and fixing small leaks. It’s not a glamorous job, but people need water, especially when the main supply gets cut off or goes dry. Our drivers know the shortcuts through the side streets to avoid the worst of the traffic, though sometimes you just can't win against the jam on the main road. We’ve been operating from this spot for a good while. The yard is usually dusty and there’s always the smell of diesel in the air. We don't have a big front office or a receptionist; if you need us, you usually have to shout over the engine noise or find someone near the garage. We keep a log of where the tankers go, but it’s mostly just us knowing the route by heart. It gets hectic during the hot months when the phone doesn't stop ringing. We just take it one load at a time. It’s hard work, and the days are long, but that’s just life in the water business. We stay focused on the task at hand. Sometimes we're out late at night if a delivery is urgent, but we don't complain much about it. It’s just how things are here.
