The day starts at Eskay Engichem Pvt Ltd in the D-1 Block of Chinchwad. This part of the city is mostly industrial, so there is always the sound of machinery or trucks reversing nearby. I usually get to the office and turn on the lights, which take a few seconds to flicker to life. The desks are covered in folders and there is always a stack of papers waiting to be filed. Our space in D-1 Block is mostly functional, with concrete floors and high ceilings that echo if you talk too loud. I spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the various containers we have stored in the back area. It isn't the kind of place you'd visit for the view, as it’s mostly just other factory walls and the occasional tree growing through the fence. We have a small corner where we make tea, and the kettle is probably the most used thing in the building. Sometimes the air feels a bit heavy because of all the activity in the block, but we just open the side door to let a breeze in. The work is steady and repetitive, mostly involving numbers and logistics. By the time five o'clock rolls around, the traffic outside starts to build up as everyone else in the industrial area heads for the gates. I usually stay back a bit to make sure everything is locked up properly and the main gate is shut tight for the night.
