Elegant Designer

We are tucked away at the Kumedan Falia Corner in Bhawani Peth. It’s an area with a lot of history and narrow streets. Our shop is at 384, right on the corner, so we get a lot of people walking by and peeking in. It’s a small space, filled with sketchbooks, fabric scraps, and measuring tapes. Most days we are sitting at the benches, either drawing something out or working on a sewing machine. The light is actually pretty good because of the corner location. We’ve been here long enough that most of the neighbors know us by name. There is a lot of noise from the market nearby, but we’ve grown used to it. Sometimes we have to step out onto the sidewalk to get a better look at a piece of material in the natural light. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Instead, we have racks of things we’ve made and half-finished projects. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. The wooden floorboards creak when you walk on them. We spend a lot of time talking about buttons or zippers or how a certain fabric hangs. It’s just us doing what we know how to do. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit near the door, so we keep a bucket handy. It’s a simple life in a busy neighborhood. The wall clock is always five minutes fast, but we never bother to fix it. We keep our scissors sharpened and our coffee mugs full.
