You can find us at 726 near Bhutkar Haud in the Neel Kanth Panshikura part of Shukrawar Peth. This is where we actually make the bags, so it’s more of a workshop than a showroom. The sound of sewing machines running fills the air almost all day long. There is usually thread and scrap fabric all over the floor because we are always in the middle of a project. Bhagwati Bag Manufacturing has been here for quite some time. It’s a dusty, busy environment but the process of creating something from scratch is satisfying. We focus on making things that are strong and will last a long time. The location near Bhutkar Haud is quite traditional and there are a lot of other craftsmen nearby. No fancy marketing or sales teams exist here. We just make the bags and people come to pick them up or we send them out to local shops. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves which takes time. It’s hard work and hands are usually tired by the end of the day. We take pride in what we do without making a big deal out of it. It’s just how we earn our living here in the Peth. The work keeps us grounded and we appreciate the steady flow of orders coming through.
