Amit Varaity

I started this shop, Amit Varaity, a while back in Bibwewadi. We’re right over here in the Sidhivinayak Towers, just next to Mahaveer Furniture. It's a small place but we keep a lot of different things on the shelves. People from around the neighborhood stop in for their daily bits and bobs. Running a store like this takes a lot of time, mostly just sitting here and talking to neighbors while they browse. The address is 686/3, which isn't too hard to find if you know where the furniture shop is. I don't really have a big fancy team or anything. It's just me and sometimes a helper. We try to keep things stocked up so you don't have to go all the way into the city for small stuff. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy, but that's just how it goes when you're busy. Bibwewadi is a good area, lots of families. We've seen kids grow up coming in here for candy or school supplies. It's a quiet life, mostly. I open up early and stay until the sun goes down. Nothing too special about it, just a local shop trying to stay open and serve the folks who live nearby. If you’re walking past the towers, you’ll see our sign. It's a bit weathered now, but we're still here. Most days are the same, which is fine by me. We just keep going. Our door is usually open unless I’ve stepped out for tea.
