We are based at the Market Yard on Nagar Road, specifically in Godown number 5, the A5 section. It’s a loud and busy place, especially early in the morning when the trucks start arriving. We deal with groceries in bulk. It’s not the kind of job where you stay clean. There’s always dust from the bags of grain and the smell of spices in the air. We aren't some fancy retail store. We are the people who handle the heavy bags and make sure the inventory matches the books. It’s a small operation, just a few of us who have worked in the market for years. We know the traders and we know the farmers who bring their stuff in. Most of our day is spent checking the quality of the lentils or rice and making sure everything is stored properly so the pests don't get to it. Nagar Road is always a mess with traffic, so we spend a lot of time waiting for deliveries to show up. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but it’s what we know. We don’t have a polished office; we just have a desk in the corner of the warehouse. We just want to do our part in the food chain and keep the business moving. It’s simple work for regular people.
