Our office and warehouse for Supra Quality Exports (I) Pvt. Ltd. is at 6/21, Thiruthuraiyur Main Road in Kandarakkottai. This isn't a shop where people walk in to buy a single item. It is more of a place where we deal with a lot of paperwork and large shipments. We have a big gate at the front where the trucks pull in to load up. The main building is divided into a small office space and a much larger area for storage. In the office, we have a couple of desks, some old filing cabinets, and a computer that stays on all day. The walls are mostly bare, except for a map and a clock that is a few minutes fast. We spend our time talking on the phone to suppliers and checking the quality of the goods before they get packed into the wooden crates. It can get very hot in the warehouse part of the building because the ceiling is high and the fans don't reach every corner. There is always the sound of tape dispensers and the clatter of pallets being moved around. We focus on the details of the export documents and making sure the labels are stuck on straight. It is a lot of routine work, checking lists and signing papers in the middle of the Kandarakkottai heat.
