Mandala Apparels

We are based at Number 1 in the All India Press Compound over in Kennedy Nagar. It’s an interesting spot because of the history of the compound. Mandala Apparels takes up a fair bit of room here, but it’s mostly filled with machines and tables for cutting fabric. It’s not the kind of place that’s meant for looking pretty. We have piles of boxes ready for shipping and various rolls of cloth leaning against the walls. The lighting is okay, but we often use extra lamps when the sun starts to go down. Working in Kennedy Nagar is convenient for most of us, though the parking can be a bit of a nightmare during the middle of the day. We usually start early in the morning before the heat really kicks in. You’ll hear the sound of the machines running almost all day long. It’s a rhythmic sound that we’ve all grown used to. We have a small area where we keep our lunch boxes and a water cooler that everyone congregates around for a few minutes. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t spend much on decorations because we’d rather have better equipment. There are usually a few stray threads on everyone’s clothes by the time they head home. It’s just how it is when you work with textiles all day. We just try to get the orders done on time and hope the machines don't break down at the wrong moment.
