Jasmine Craft

We have been operating out of 43, Bharathi Street in Kathirkamam for quite a while now. It is a small space where we spend most of our days working on different handmade items. Jasmine Craft is not a big factory or anything like that. It is mostly just us sitting around a large wooden table with our tools and materials spread out everywhere. The street outside can get pretty noisy with the scooters and people walking by, but we have gotten used to it over the years. Sometimes the humidity makes the materials a bit difficult to work with, but we just manage as best as we can. We do not have a fancy showroom, so most of the space is just used for making things and storing whatever we have finished. We started this because we liked the process of creating something from scratch with our hands. It is hard work and our fingers often ache by the time evening comes around. We do all the packing ourselves right here on the floor. It gets a bit messy by the afternoon with scraps of paper and bits of string everywhere, but we try to sweep up before heading home. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from the heat. We do not really have a big plan for the future, we just keep showing up and doing the work that needs to be done.
