Maharshi Durwasha Inter College

Maharshi Durwasha Inter College is situated in the Kakra Dubawal area of Allahabad. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say the name, but most people just call it the college. We have older students here, so the atmosphere is a little different than a primary school. The building is quite old and has that specific smell of dust and old wood. We are located near the Dubawal side, and it can be a bit of a trek to get here if you’re coming from the main part of Allahabad. The college has seen many batches of students come and go over the years. We have classrooms that are quite large, though the benches have seen better days. During exam season, the whole place gets very quiet and serious, but the rest of the year it’s fairly lively with teenagers talking in the corridors. We have a lot of paperwork to deal with, and the office is always full of files and old registers. The teachers are mostly local residents who have been teaching the same subjects for decades. We don’t have much in the way of fancy facilities, but we have enough space for the students to gather. It’s a typical Inter College where we just try to get the syllabus finished on time. The gate is usually open, and people from the village often pass by. There’s a large banyan tree near the entrance where students hang out during their breaks. It provides a lot of shade during the hot Allahabad afternoons.
