Down here in Allahabad, specifically at 19/2 Luker-Ganj, we’ve been running Best Infosystems Pvt Ltd. It’s a quiet part of U.P. compared to the big cities. The building is older, but it serves its purpose for what we need. We handle info systems, which basically means a lot of data work and keeping records straight. It’s not the most exciting work in the world but it’s steady. India is changing fast but Luker-Ganj feels like it stays the same. We have a small group of people who show up every morning. We know each other’s families and what’s going on in the town. Sometimes the internet is slow and we have to call the provider, which takes forever. But we manage. The office has a ceiling fan that clicks a bit too loud. Nobody bothers to fix it. We just work around it. There are no fancy meetings or PowerPoint presentations here. We just talk across the room. We take our lunches together and usually talk about local news. It’s a very grounded way to run a business. We don't have a big sign outside, just the address. People who need us find us. We’ve been here long enough that most people in the lane know who we are. It’s just a regular office doing regular things without any of that corporate polish you see in the bigger cities nowadays.
