Down here at S.No.82, Plot No.30/1 in Cherlapalle Village, things move a bit slower than in the big city, which is just fine by us. We’re out in Kandukur, specifically in the Prakasam area, where there’s a lot of open space but not many paved roads to speak of. Sri Mg Engineering.Co. is basically just a workshop where we weld, cut, and fix all kinds of things that people bring in on their tractors. The concrete floor is usually covered in metal shavings and drops of oil. We’ve got a couple of old lathes that still run better than the new ones we tried once. My uncle started this place thirty years ago, and I took over after he decided he’d had enough of the heat. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we usually start our work very early in the morning. The stray dogs from the village often wander in and sleep under the workbenches where it's cool. We don't really have a secretary or anyone to answer the phone formally, so if you call us, you’ll probably hear the loud sound of a grinder in the background. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, but seeing a machine work again after we’ve put it back together feels good. We mostly work with local farmers and small factory owners from around the district. There’s always someone stopping by with a broken part that needs a quick fix before the sun goes down. We do what we can and try to get it back to them by the next morning when we open.
