Saurashtra Cement Ltd. is located right near the railway station. It is a very convenient spot for us because so much of our business involves the trains. We handle a lot of cement moving in and out of this location. Being so close to the tracks means there is constant activity and noise. You can hear the train whistles and the rumbling all through the day. Our office is a bit old and the walls always have a thin layer of dust from the cement, but it’s where we get everything done. We have a small group of people who keep the records and manage the truck loading. We don't have anything fancy like a nice lobby or a receptionist at a desk. If you walk in, you will just see us at our desks surrounded by stacks of ledgers. We have been around here for quite a while now. Most people in the area know our building well. We don't spend money on big signs or any kind of advertising. The work comes to us because people need cement for their building projects. We just focus on getting the heavy bags where they need to go on time. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when the rain starts and we have to cover the stock quickly. It is a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We show up early and work until the job is finished.
