Our place, Ramana Sekhar Steels Ltd., is located at 34, Ponneri High Road. We’re out in Elanthancheri Village, near Manai New Town. Being on the high road means we see a lot of traffic passing by, which is good for business but can be noisy. The area has changed a lot lately, moving from quiet village land to a busier industrial zone. We’ve got a large yard where we keep the steel. It’s heavy work, and the sun can be brutal out here during the summer months. We don’t have much in the way of shade in the yard, so we mostly stay in the small office when we aren’t handling the metal. The office itself is pretty basic—just some desks, a few chairs, and a lot of paperwork. We keep a close eye on the stock because it’s easy for things to get disorganized when you’re dealing with so much weight. The workers here have been with us for a long time. We’re like a small family. We eat lunch together and complain about the heat. It’s a straightforward business. We buy steel, we store it, and we sell it to people who need it for their projects. We don’t use any complicated jargon. If you come by, you’ll see us in our work clothes, probably a bit dusty from the yard. That’s just the reality of working with steel in this part of the country. We just do our jobs.
