If you’re driving down M.C. Road near Perumbavoor, you might pass our spot at Pulluvazhy. We are G N Plantations. It’s a straightforward name for a straightforward business. We grow things on the land, and that’s the bulk of our life. The air out here is a bit different than the city, which is good for the plants and the people too. We spend most of our days out among the trees and crops instead of sitting in a chair. It’s not an easy life, but it’s what we know and what we’ve always done. We’ve got a small office at the Pulluvazhy P.O. area to handle the legal bits and the mail, but you won't find us there much during the day. We’d rather be outside working. The weather dictates everything we do. If it rains too much, we worry about the roots. If it’s too dry, we worry about the growth. But that’s just plantation life for you. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy brochures with pretty pictures. We just sell what we grow to whoever needs it. People know us in Perumbavoor as a local outfit that stays busy. We keep to ourselves and focus on the quality of what comes off the land. Sometimes the harvest is great, and sometimes it's just okay because of the bugs or the heat. We take it as it comes. It's an honest way to make a living, and it keeps us tied to the seasons. There’s a certain rhythm to it.
