We are over here at 2/16 East Street in Mavilingam. Most of us grew up in Perambalur and have been farming since we were kids. This collective started because we wanted to handle our own business instead of always going through others. Alathur is where we focus most of our energy. The building on East Street is small, but it gets the job done for the Alathur Collective Farmer Producercompany Limited. You can usually find a few of us there early in the morning before we go out to the fields. It is a quiet village, Mavilingam, and we like it that way. We grow what we can and try to make sure everyone in the group gets a fair shake. It is not always easy with the weather and the prices for crops changing every month. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, which makes things stressful for the families who rely on the harvest. We share tools and help each other out when someone is falling behind. There is no big office or fancy desks here. Just some plastic chairs and a lot of talk about seeds and fertilizer. We have been registered for a while now under the name Alathur Collective Farmer Producercompany Limited. It is a long name for a group of simple farmers. We just keep our heads down and work.
