Kumar Store

If you look for Munna Std, you’ll find us right nearby on Daldali Road. It’s a good spot in Kadamkuan because everyone knows that landmark. I’ve been running Kumar Store for a while now, and I’ve learned that people just want to get their things and get home. I try to have everything ready, like the small packets of shampoo and the loose tea leaves that people buy in small amounts. The shop isn't very big, so I have to use every inch of the walls. I even have things hanging from the ceiling hooks. It gets a bit dark in the back during the power cuts, but we have a small torch handy. My brother used to help me, but now he’s moved on to other things, so it’s mostly just me and a young lad who helps with the heavy bags. We get a lot of students coming by because of the nearby schools, always looking for pens or snacks. I don't bother with fancy displays. I just put the stuff where I can reach it easily. The counter is getting a bit worn down where people slide their coins, but it’s sturdy. Patna summers are tough, so the cold drink fridge is the most important thing in the shop from March to September. I just keep the stock moving and try to keep the dust off the jars. It is a lot of work but it keeps me busy.
