Govt Polytechnic

Patna is a busy place and being at the Govt Polytechnic here keeps us on our toes. I work as a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering and my day usually starts early before the city gets too loud. Our building is right in the heart of things in Patna, Bihar 800 007. It isn't a fancy new glass office or anything like that. It is an old building with high ceilings and fans that hum all day while we try to explain circuits and wiring to the students who come from all over the state. Most mornings I spend my time checking lab equipment or looking over student drawings. The hallways are usually full of young people carrying rolls of paper or tool kits. Sometimes the power goes out, which is ironic for an electrical department, but we just carry on. It is a very practical place. We don't have a lot of frills. People here are hard workers and they just want to learn a skill so they can get a job and help their families. The tea stall right outside the gate is where most of the actual talk happens between classes. It is a bit dusty and the traffic in Patna is always a mess, but this is where we do our work. It feels real. We are just teachers and staff trying to keep things running for the next batch of kids who want to be engineers.
