Siddhi Vinayakar Modern Rice Mill

We are located at Shop No.182 on Rajpura Road. It’s right near the Guru Tegh Bahadur Market in Patiala. The mill is always humming with the sound of the machines. There is a lot of dust from the husks, so we are always sweeping up. We handle a lot of grain throughout the week. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving sacks from the trucks into the mill and then back out again. We’ve been here for quite some time. The area gets really busy during the harvest season. That’s when we barely have time to sit down. My brother and I manage most of the daily stuff. It’s not a big corporate setup, just a local mill doing what it's supposed to do. The machines are old but they still run fine if you take care of them. Sometimes they break down and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing a belt or a motor. It's part of the job. People from the nearby villages bring their produce here. We talk, settle the accounts, and keep moving. The office is just a small desk in the corner with a ledger. No computers or anything fancy. Just pen and paper usually works better for us anyway. It gets hot in the summer inside the mill, but we’re used to it. The smell of fresh rice is something you never quite get tired of, though. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs finishing before the sun sets.
