Himayat Binny Rice Mill

The mill is located right off G.T. Road. If you’ve driven down this way, you’ve probably seen the trucks lined up or smelled the grain in the air. Himayat Binny Rice Mill has been operating here for a long time. It’s a dusty place, honestly. There is no way to keep the rice dust off the machines or the floors when things are running at full speed. We spend most of our hours making sure the equipment doesn't jam up. It’s loud, so we mostly communicate with hand signals when we’re near the huskers. The crew here lives nearby mostly. We don’t have a big corporate office. Our office is just a small room with a wooden table where we keep the ledgers. Everything is written down by hand because that’s how we’ve always done it. G.T. Road is always busy, so there’s a lot of traffic noise mixing with the sound of the mill. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, which is just part of the job. We process a lot of rice, day in and day out. It’s hard work and your clothes will definitely be dirty by the end of the shift. We just focus on getting the bags filled and loaded onto the trucks. It isn't complicated, but it takes all day. That’s just life at the mill. We just keep the machines moving and hope for a good harvest season.
