Parkash Sweets

Parkash Sweets has been a part of Arna Barna Chowk for a long time. We are right near the Books Market, which is a busy spot with students and shoppers always passing by. Our shop is open early in the morning because that’s when people want their fresh snacks. The front of the shop has the usual glass counters, and the back is where the large vats for frying and boiling are kept. It gets very hot back there, especially in the summer months. We have a few regular staff members who have been making these recipes for years. We don't change things much around here. The floor tiles are a bit worn out from all the walking, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we're usually too busy to worry about that. People come in for a quick bite or to take boxes of sweets home for their families. We don't do any advertising; the smell of the food usually does the work for us. Sometimes the crowd gets a bit much and the line spills out onto the street. We just try to serve everyone as fast as we can. It’s a loud, busy environment with a lot of shouting back and forth between the counter and the kitchen. We use heavy brass utensils that have been with us since the beginning. It’s a traditional way of doing things and we don't see any reason to change it.
