Gopal Sweets & Namkeen

If you are around Leela Bhawan Chowk, you’ve probably seen us. We are right there where all the traffic meets. It gets really busy around the shop, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home and wants to pick something up. We make a lot of different sweets and those salty snacks people like. The kitchen in the back is always hot and smells like sugar and oil. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the demand. We have guys who have been making these recipes for years. They don't use fancy machines for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand because that’s just how we learned to do it. The counter gets crowded and sometimes it’s a bit chaotic with people shouting their orders. We try to move fast so nobody has to wait too long. It’s a family-run feel even if we have quite a few staff members now. The shelves are usually full in the morning but they get pretty empty by the time we close up at night. We don't spend money on fancy decorations inside. It’s just a clean place to buy food. We use what we have and focus on making sure the batches turn out okay. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky, but we clean it as often as we can. It’s just a normal neighborhood shop where we try to get the orders right every time for the people who come in.
