NEW VISHAVKARMA MECHANICAL WORKS is located in Vill. Dulladi, right on M.K. Road. We are quite close to the petrol pump, which is handy when we need to fill up the generator or the bikes. The shop is mostly metal shavings and the smell of grease. Being out here in the Nabha district, things are a bit slower than the big cities, but we stay busy with mechanical repairs. My hands are usually black with oil by ten in the morning. We have a couple of lathes and some old drills that have seen better days but still work just fine. There is a lot of noise when the machines are all running at once. Sometimes customers just wander in from the road because they saw the sign. We talk about the crops or the weather while we look at their broken parts. It gets dusty being so close to the main road, especially in the summer. We have a small bench outside where we sit during the afternoon heat. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We just focus on the metal work and getting the dimensions right. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for parts to arrive from the city. Most of us live nearby, so the commute isn't too bad. We've been at this spot for a long time and know most of the people passing by. It is just honest work.
