We set up Kay Kay Gears over in the Industrial Estate on Sirhind Road. It’s a busy area, lots of noise and trucks moving in and out all day long. We have the space at 15-18 B. It’s a decent sized unit, plenty of room for the gear cutting machines and the materials we keep in stock. We have been in this spot for a few years. It gets pretty loud when the machines are all running at once, so we usually have to step outside to talk. The floor is always a bit oily, but that’s just how a gear shop is. We don’t have a big reception area or fancy furniture. Usually, if a customer comes by, they just walk straight onto the shop floor. My brother and a few local guys help run the place. We try to keep things organized but it gets messy when we have a big order to finish. Sirhind Road is a good location for us because it's easy for the delivery trucks to find. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two, so we just take a tea break then. It’s not a corporate type of business. We just focus on getting the gears right. There’s a lot of metal scraps around the back that we clear out once a month. It’s a simple life here in the estate. We like it that way and the neighbors are alright too.
