We are based out of B-31 in the Focal Point area, which is a pretty standard industrial neighborhood. The main thing here is the sound of the hammers and the heat from the forge. It’s heavy work, and you definitely feel it in your arms by the time the shift is over. We work with different kinds of alloys, so the floor is always covered with scraps and metal shavings that need to be swept up. It isn't a clean job, and the walls have a bit of soot on them, but that’s just how forging goes. We don’t have a lot of staff, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, whether it’s moving raw materials or checking the finished forgings. The breakroom is just a small corner with a table and a kettle, but it’s where we sit and talk about things that aren't work for a few minutes. We try to keep things simple and not get bogged down in too many rules that don't make sense on the floor. If a piece isn't right, it goes back into the pile to be redone. There aren't any fancy presentations here, just a lot of manual labor and trying to keep the furnaces running properly. It’s what we do every day, and we’re used to the noise and the grit that comes with it. We just keep the hammers moving and get the orders ready for when the trucks arrive.
