We are located on Bindu Sarower Road, right where the Sidhpur State Highway cuts through Khali. Sidhpur Isabgol Processing Co. isn't hard to find if you know where the water is. The road gets crowded during festival times because of the sacred sites nearby. We just keep the gates shut and keep working through the noise. Inside, it’s all about the Isabgol. We have different sections for cleaning and grading the seeds. It’s a messy process and everyone leaves at the end of the shift covered in a bit of grey dust. We don't mind it much. The building is old and has high ceilings which helps keep it a bit cooler. We have a small desk near the front for paperwork but most of the time we are back with the workers. The equipment is older but we know how to handle its quirks. Sometimes the belt slips and we have to stop everything to put it back on. It’s just how things go. We get deliveries from the local farmers and we know most of them by name. They bring their carts and trucks right up to the loading dock. We talk about the weather and the crop prices while we unload. It’s a community thing more than a big business thing. We stay until the last bag is tucked away for the night. Usually the walk home is quiet once the sun goes down.
