You’ll find us on the first floor of Narmada Complex, right across from the Dediyasan GIDC. It’s shop number 4. Being right opposite the GIDC is handy because that’s where most of the work comes from. It’s a dusty part of town with a lot of trucks moving back and forth. Our shop is small and smells like machine oil and burnt metal. We handle engineering services, which is a broad way of saying we fix whatever mechanical parts people bring through the door. There’s a lot of clanging and the sound of drills throughout the day. We have tools hanging on every available inch of wall space. It’s not a showroom. It’s a place where we get our hands dirty. We don't have a secretary; if you want to talk to us, you just come up the stairs and shout over the noise. It’s just a couple of us who know how to work the machines. Sometimes we’re out on a site visit and the shop is closed for a few hours. We don't have a formal schedule, we just work until the job is done. People in the industrial estate know us as the guys who can figure out a stubborn engine or a broken pump. It’s basic, hard work and we’ve been doing it in this same complex for years now. We like the grit of the job and staying busy with our tools.
