West End High School

Jhargram is a pretty green place, and West End High School is right in the middle of it. Being in the Midnapore area, we are used to the trees and the quiet. The school is not on a main highway, so we do not get too much heavy traffic noise. Most of our students are local kids who have grown up in these streets. We see them every morning, some on bicycles and others walking in groups. The building itself is older, with thick walls that keep it somewhat cool during the summer months. We have a small courtyard where we gather. The teachers here have been around for a long time. We know which student is good at math and which one is always trying to sneak out early. It feels like a big family, for better or worse. We have our fair share of problems, like the roof needing repairs after a big storm or the water pump acting up. We just fix what we can when we can. There is no point in pretending we are something we are not. We provide a place for kids to spend their day and learn something useful. In the evenings, the area gets very still. You can hear the cicadas. It is a decent place to work. We just keep the routine going and hope for the best for the kids.
