We spend most of our time out here in Raghunathpur, right near the Salmahua Guest House in Jhargram. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but this is where the work happens. Ankit Metals & Power Limited has been part of this Paschim Medinipur landscape for some time now. Dealing with metals and power means things get loud and dusty quite often. There is always a truck coming in or someone heading out to check on the operations. It isn’t the kind of place where you wear a clean suit and sit in air conditioning all day. Most of us are used to the grime and the heat that comes with the job. If you are looking for us, just ask around for the spot near the guest house. People know us here. We handle a lot of heavy stuff and the days are long. Sometimes the power lines need looking after or the metal needs moving, and we just get on with it. It’s practical work. No one here spends much time on fancy talk. We just focus on what needs doing before the sun goes down. The office part of things is mostly just keeping track of where everything goes. It’s a busy life in this corner of Bengal. We see a lot of local faces and try to keep things moving along without too much fuss.
